History of T.M. Lewin

T.M. Lewin began life as a gentleman's shirt retailer and manufacturer with the first shop opening in Jermyn Street, London, in 1898, a hub for fine tailoring. Among its innovations was the 'coat-shirt', as it was known, which is buttoned down the front and is closer fitting than the-then traditional shirt and which had to pulled over the wearer's head.

During the wars, the company became a supplier of club colours to the British Army, the Royal Air Force, sporting clubs, as well as ties to schools. Ties remain a core part of T.M. Lewin's business with the retailer continuing to supply both the army and RAF and schools and universities. The ties worn during the London 2012 Olympics bid were made by the firm.

The original shop in Jermyn Street is still there but has been joined by just under a further 100 in the UK, with new stores opening across the world in locations including Europe, Singapore, South Africa and Australia and the outfitter caters for women, as well as men. Among the merchandise offered by the firm are cufflinks, knitwear, bowties and cummerbunds.

T.M. Lewin also provides a tailoring service as well as catering for special occasions such as prom nights, groom nights, wedding days and days at the races. You can now also shop online.

Delivery Information

T.M. Lewin offers a choice of four ways of delivery. Order online and opt for free delivery to one of 50 stores nationwide and pick up your purchases when it's convenient for you.

Expect delivery to take between two and five days. There is no tracking system available with this option. Or choose standard delivery which takes between two to five days, most usually two, and costs £4.95. You can have deliveries to somewhere other than your billing address.

A third option is next day delivery via UK Mail, which requires a signature upon receipt. Orders must be placed before 1pm for next day delivery. The cost is £8.95 and no tracking system is available. Finally, you can choose free in-store delivery; choose from one of 55 stores. Delivery will take two to five days and you'll receive an email when the item arrives. If you've asked to have shirts altered, you'll need to allow an extra three to five days for delivery.

Returns Policy

T.M. Lewin offers its customers a three month no quibble guarantee, enabling you to shop online with complete confidence. You can opt for either a full refund or an exchange.

Just fill in the free returns label that came with your parcel and make sure you include proof of purchase. If you do not have a returns label simply use the 'ask a question' tab on the website and you'll be emailed a PDF you can print off and use. Once the goods are received back, your refund or exchange will be processed within five working days.
