History of The White Company

The White Company was founded over 20 years ago by Chrissie Rucker, MBE; she was unable to find well-designed, good quality white bed linen, so she decided to make her own. Chrissie developed a range of beautiful essentials for the linen cupboard - duvet covers, pillows, sheets and towels, all in timeless white - and soon expanded to include a whole range of lifestyle products, with stunning accessories for the home.

When Chrissie became a mother, she developed the business further to include The Little White Company, a range of children's and baby clothes, bedding and toys, all with the same quality and timeless luxury of the original company. The business was then further extended in 2003 to include stylish, quality clothes, all in beautiful fabrics and exquisite shapes, and in 2005 a gift and Christmas line was launched.

The company that started life as a 12-page mail order catalogue is now one of the UK's fastest-growing retailers, in store and online, and has over a million customers, over £100 million turnover, 50 stores across the UK, stores overseas and a website in the US.

New to The White Company is a clothing and homeware stylist service, advising customers on wardrobe and homewares to suit your needs.

The White Company and The Little White Company have regular sales and promotional periods where voucher codes can be used to obtain discounts on items across their range.

Opening Times

Most of The White Company UK high-street stores are open at the following times:

Monday-Saturday 09:00-17:30/18:00Sunday - 11:00-17:00

Some UK high-street stores also offer Thursday late-night opening, usually from 09:00-21:00

Stores with longer opening hours can be found at bigger shopping centres and retail parks.

Delivery Information

Standard Delivery at The White Company is fairly fast; Standard Delivery items are delivered Monday-Friday within three working days (excluding bank or public holidays). Standard delivery with gift wrap is free when you spend over £50.

Next Day delivery is also offered at an extra charge, if the order is placed by 4pm, delivery Monday-Friday (excluding bank or public holidays). A Saturday delivery service is also available, again at an extra charge, or you can arrange for a click and collect service from your local Collect+ location - ideal if you are out all day as deliveries at home often require a signature.

The White Company are very customer-focused, and keen to help out - if the item you're looking for is out of stock, their team will be happy to order it for you and either have it delivered into store or to your home free of charge (except beds and furniture). The White Company also offer Gift Vouchers, which can be ordered online.

Returns Policy

The White Company allow returns of most items within 30 days of receipt, as long as it is unused and in the original packaging. Certain items are excluded from the returns policy: mattresses, duvets and pillows if the sealed packaging has been opened; toiletries or beauty products if the seals have been broken; swimwear if the protective strip has been removed; underwear; and earrings.

Your return will be acknowledged by email within 10 working days and can take up to five working days to fulfil. You have the right to cancel your order within 14 working days of receiving your purchase. You can return items bought online in store, with proof of purchase.

Security & Reviews

The White Company's website is very secure. Card details for online payments are protected by encryption and the latest proxy technology. The White Company are accredited members of the IMRG and you will see the ISIS logo in their checkout process. The website also follows a tight security procedure as required under UK Data Protection Legislation (the Data Protection Act 1998) to protect the information they store about you from unauthorised access. The White Company will also never pass on your email address to a third party for marketing purposes.

Feefo reviews rate The White Company's website with an impressive 94% for Service and 94% for Products. Reviews state that parcels are well-packed with quick and efficient delivery. Some customers have had bad experiences with overseas delivery, but these are in the minority.
