Arthur initially opened a small store on Regent Street, selling ornaments, fabric, and artistic objects from the East. His aim was to bring the finest artisanal products to England and to introduce Eastern influences to Western interiors. The store quickly grew in popularity, and within 18 months, he repaid the initial loan of £2,000 and expanded, acquiring adjacent properties. By the early 1900s, Liberty had become a prestigious name, particularly famous for its fabrics and ornate designs. The Mock Tudor store on Great Marlborough Street, which remains the company's flagship, was constructed in the 1920s, solidifying Liberty’s reputation as an iconic shopping destination.
