History of Jessops

Founded in Leicester in 1935, Jessops is a well known photographic retailer in the UK. After being established and overseen by Frank Jessop and trading as the Jessop Group Limited, the company fell into administration in 2013 and all of its high street stores were initially closed.

After substantial investment from Peter Jones, a British entrepreneur also known as a TV personality on the BBC programme called the Dragon's Den, who invested millions of pounds into Jessops, the company transformed into Jessops Europe Limited

Its new investor gradually oversaw the reopening of Jessop stores. In the process, some of the former larger Jessops store premises were sold on to Morrisons for their relatively new convenience store format M Local. Still proud of its heritage and claiming to be a company offering the great products and advice that helped to firmly establish their place on the high street over 75 years ago, the company has also introduced new services for its customers.
